Am I abandoning Etsy?!

I have been getting the same question when I bring up my new website to customers...AM I QUITTING ETSY?

The short answer: NO!

The long answer, well, let's start with this: Why am I leaving Etsy in the first place?

I've been running my business for over a year now, and I started with an Etsy store. I believe that it is a great place for new small business owners to get their foot in the door and their products out there. I am grateful for the time I spent on Etsy and the experience I've gained for it. However, as my business started to grow, I realized I don't need to rely on it anymore! Most of my sales come from direct traffic, like Instagram and Pinterest, instead of Etsy's built in algorithm. I also get traffic to my Etsy store from markets. An Etsy shop is also expensive to run! Since my sales come from my own marketing, their tools aren't serving me as much as I would like it to.

So why would I keep my shop up? I do get the occasional sale from people casually scrolling through the search results. If I took down my shop, it would be a waste! I also already have a stable platform on there, with reviews and sale numbers to back me up. Although the fees are a lot, my main platform will now be my own website.
